Chia-Hsien Shen Named 2026 Asian Young Scientist Fellow

The Asian Young Scientist Fellowship is a privately funded initiative established to recognize and support promising young scientists across Asia. Since 2023, it has selected four outstanding early-career researchers each year in each of three fields: Life Science, Physical Science, and Mathematics and Computer Science. Selected fellows receive substantial funding to support their groundbreaking research. AYSF also organizes an annual conference and other academic activities, building an international network that connects young scientists in Asia with the global scientific community.

Shen joined NTU’s Department of Physics in 2023 and was selected as a Yushan Young Fellow. His research has long focused on quantum field theory and particle physics, with recent work placing particular emphasis on precise descriptions that connect black holes, gravitational waves, and scattering amplitudes. Commenting on his selection as a 2026 AYS Fellow, Shen said, "I am honored to be selected as an Asian Young Scientist. This fellowship will help our research team at NTU develop a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of black holes and quantum field theory, while also enhancing Taiwan’s international visibility."

He added, "I am grateful for the recognition this fellowship represents, and I would like to thank the Department of Physics at NTU, the Leung Center for Cosmology and ParticleAstrophysics (LeCosPA), the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS), and the Max Planck–IAS–NTU Center for Particle Physics, Cosmology and Geometry, established last year, for creating such a strong research environment. This achievement would not have been possible without the opportunity to collaborate with NTU's outstanding scholars and students."        

Shen’s selection not only recognizes his research accomplishments and academic potential, but also highlights LeCosPA's excellence in fundamental science and international academic exchange. LeCosPA looks forward to his continued contributions to research in quantum field theory and gravitational physics, the exploration of new directions in theoretical physics, and the growing visibility and impact of Taiwan’s young scientists on the international academic stage.
