Stathes Paganis
Stathes Paganis is an accomplished experimental physicist working on the design of new detectors for particle physics experiments.
Biography
Paganis obtained his PhD in Particle Physics in 1999 from the University of Texas at Austin. He was then a research associate at Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin, before becoming a faculty member at he University of Sheffield, UK. Since 2014, Paganis is a Professor of Particle Physics at NTU.
The main research interests of Prof. Paganis include Higgs boson measurements at the LHC, searches for beyond the Standard Model particles and interactions, and the development of novel detector technologies. After arriving in Taiwan, he set up a consortium of five institutes (NTU, AS, NCU, NTHU, NCKU) to produce novel detectors for particle physics and industrial applications. International partners of the consortium include CERN, MIT and IHEP (China). At LeCosPA, Paganis is also involved in the AnaBHEL (Analog Black Hole Evaporation via Lasers) Collaboration. In 2021, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Physics Research Award of the Taiwan Physical Society.
